Privacy Policy

Last updated August 8, 2026

This policy explains what this website collects, why, and who else sees it. By using the site you agree to what follows.

What is collected

When you contact me: your name, email address and message, so I can reply.

When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address. Nothing is sent to it until you confirm the subscription from the link in the confirmation email.

When you comment on a post: the name, email address and comment text you submit. Your email address is not published.

When you simply browse: aggregate page-view statistics. No cookies are set for this, and visitors are not tracked across other websites.

Services that process data on my behalf

This site is built on third-party infrastructure. Each of these receives some data as a necessary part of running the site:

  • Vercel: hosting and Web Analytics. Vercel processes your IP address to serve pages and to produce aggregate, non-identifying visit statistics. Vercel Blob stores uploaded files such as images and audio.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: the anti-spam check on the newsletter and contact forms. Cloudflare receives your IP address and limited browser signals to decide whether a submission is automated. It is used in place of a tracking-based CAPTCHA for this reason.
  • Neon: the PostgreSQL database holding posts, comments, subscribers and contact messages.
  • Resend: delivers newsletter and notification email, and processes subscriber email addresses to do so.

I do not sell your data, and I do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

How long it is kept

Contact messages and comments are kept while they remain useful to me and are deleted when they are not. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and using it removes your address from the list entirely rather than flagging it.

Your rights

You can ask me what data I hold about you, ask for it corrected, or ask for it deleted. Write to the address on the contact page and I will action it.

If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will appear here.
